Upa Yoga
Gentle Yet Powerful Activation for Joints and Muscles
Upa Yoga is a gentle yet extremely effective practice that activates the joints, muscles and energy system. Suitable for all ages and abilities, it can be a pleasant introduction to physical activity if you’re looking to get fit, or a great warm up before more dynamic work outs or activities.
Essentially Upa Yoga means ‘sub-yoga’ or ‘pre-yoga’, and because of its many and very evident benefits, the word ‘upa’ has come to denote ‘usefulness’ in many Indian languages.
Upa Yoga is Ideal for:
-Alleviating stress
-Relieving tiredness
-Increases alertness
-Mobilises joints
-Exercises muscles
-Rejuvenates body after periods of inactivity
-Eases effects of long travel
-Mitigates jetlag
-Soothes neck and backache
-Warms up and energises body
Although not a full Yogic practice in itself, Upa Yoga is a powerful way to release the inertia that builds up in the system after periods of inactivity or even sleep, and bring a sense of ease and liveliness to the whole system.

What Makes Upa Yoga Different?
-Gentle and suitable for everyone
-Mobilise joints and muscles in around 20 minutes
-Dispels the tendency to remain inactive from joints
-Powers up the system
Based on the profound understanding of the human system found in Classical Yoga, Upa Yoga focuses on the energy pathways that form nodes at the joints, making them storehouses of energy. The joints are systematically activated, mobilised and lubricated during practice to banish lethargy and stagnation, and bring comfort and vitality.
